Black Masterbatch
TPU masterbatch is a concentrated pellet additive using TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) as the carrier resin, loaded with high levels of pigments, carbon black, or functional additives—made specifically for coloring or modifying TPU-based products.
TPU masterbatch has the following characteristics and application advantages
1、Main Types
- Color masterbatch: Black, white, or custom colors; good dispersion, no color bleeding
- Black masterbatch: Carbon black-loaded; deep black, UV resistance, weatherability
- Functional masterbatch: UV-stabilized, antistatic, slip/processing aid, etc.
- By TPU type:
- Polyester TPU: High strength, oil resistance; shoe soles, auto parts
- Polyether TPU: Better hydrolysis & low-temp resistance; cables, waterproof films
2、 Advantages
- Perfect compatibility: Same TPU carrier; no delamination, no migration
- Excellent dispersion: Fine pigment (≤20 μm); no specks, uniform color
- High heat stability: Withstands 180–220°C processing
- Preserves TPU properties: Little impact on elasticity, strength, or abrasion
- Weather & UV resistance: Outdoor stability, UV 7–8 rating
- Compliance: RoHS, REACH, FDA; safe for food contact/medical use
3、 Disadvantages
- Cost: Higher than PE/PP masterbatch
- Moisture sensitive: Must dry before processing; otherwise bubbles/hydrolysis
- Narrow compatibility: Best with TPU; limited use with PE/PP/ABS
