Color Masterbatch
Color masterbatch is a new type of specialized coloring agent for polymer materials. Color masterbatch is composed of three basic elements: pigments or dyes, carriers, and additives. It is an aggregate made by uniformly attaching a super constant amount of pigments to a resin. Can be used for the processing and production of plastic products.
Color masterbatch has the following characteristics and application advantages
1. Better dispersibility
During the production process of color masterbatch, it is necessary to refine the pigments. After heating and melting, the pigment particles can be well dispersed in the plastic products.
2. Chemical stability
After the pigment is made into a color masterbatch, the resin carrier isolates the pigment from air and moisture, which can maintain the quality of the pigment for a long time.
3. Ensure the color of the product
The color masterbatch are similar to the resin particles, and the mixture with the resin is also relatively uniform, thus ensuring the stability of the addition amount and product color.

Can color masterbatch be recycled or reused?
1、Basic recyclability
Color masterbatch is compounded with resin, pigments and auxiliaries. It can be recycled together with waste plastic scraps, runners or defective products from production. The recycled mixture can be reprocessed for general products.
2、Main limitations after recycling
- Color shift/fading: Repeated heating may cause pigment discoloration, uneven tint or reduced brightness.
- Performance drop: Auxiliaries degrade under high temperature; material toughness, fluidity and weather resistance will weaken.
- Impurity risk: Mixed foreign materials will lead to spots or defects on finished goods.
3、Usage suggestions
- Primary recycling (once): Suitable for products with low appearance and performance requirements, such as ordinary structural parts, industrial accessories.
- Multiple recycling: Not recommended for high-grade products, food-contact items, outdoor products or parts needing stable color.
- Operation tips: Sort waste materials strictly; control processing temperature to avoid overheating degradation; do not mix different types of resin/masterbatch.
4、Special cases
- Food-grade, medical-grade color masterbatch: Not suggested for recycling, to avoid safety risks.
- High-temperature resistant, weather-resistant masterbatch: Can withstand more recycling times than regular grades.
